Garage conversion & extension
Conversion and extension of an existing garage to form a new office with cloakroom and kitchenette.
What did DZ do?
Prepared initial sketch designs and building regulations/detailed drawings for construction. After this extension was completed we also applied for planning permission and building regulations approval for a new garage on land in front of the property.
Design issues
The client wanted staff to be able to use the office without having to go into the house. We therefore suggested extending forwards slightly to form a new shared lobby which could give access to the house and the office. This lobby was restricted by an existing window to the side on the house (in pink render wall) which forced us to angle the new wall and introduce a curve. The curved wall hid the service elements of the office with high level glazing above allowing light into the office space behind.

We worked closely with the builder from the outset and were only employed to provide detailed drawings as required by them.
