Rear extension to Listed Farmhouse

Refurbishment and extension of an existing Grade II Listed farmhouse to completely update the spaces. The extensions itself is mainly to be used as a sun room but has a small shower room in the section where it meets the existing house.

What did DZ do?

We undertook a detailed survey of the existing building which was in a very poor condition, recording all beams, features and details that would be affected by the proposals. Working with the client we then developed an idea for the overall layout of the enlarged house and worked-up designs for the sunroom. After initially exploring a modern design for the extension it was decided to make it in-keeping with the existing by having the same materials, glazing styles and roof details.

We then applied for planning & listed building consent and finally building regulations approval.

Did DZ get involved in the build?

The client did much of the work himself using our drawings and notes.
