Internal replanning of kitchen and rear extension

Complete re-planning of the ground floor rear of an existing semi-detached house to provide a kitchen/diner, cloakroom, utility and sitting area. At the same time there was a loft conversion to form an additional bedroom and ensuite.

The existing house had a draughty conservatory onto the garden and an old out-house and the kitchen was tucked-away in the middle without any views to the garden. By knocking through the old back wall and building a proper extension we have created a large open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room. The utility and cloakroom have been formed in the space where the old kitchen was, away from the garden.

By opening-up the back of the house and stepping-down the extension, we have created a genuine sense of connection between the inside and outside spaces. The clients have themselves cleverly carried on the tiling from inside to out to further enhance this feeling.

What did DZ do?

We prepared initial sketch designs and then dealt with the Certificate of Lawfulness application and Building Regulations approval. The builders then took over working from the Building Regulation drawings and notes.

Did DZ get quotes from builders?

The project came to us via the builders.

Did DZ get involved in the build?

The builders managed all works on site themselves and we just answered queries as they arose. The clients were very happy with the management of the build and the finished product.
