Feasibility Studies
With many projects, particularly larger schemes, there can be many unknowns and variables to take into account. This is where a feasibility study can be very useful to do background research to enable a strategy or brief to be developed. We can assist with all aspect of this such as:
Background research into:
- Planning- study the 'Local Plan', look at previous applications and find relevant precedents.
- Environmental issues- look into factors such as risk of flooding, transport issues, protected trees and special wildlife habitats.
- Historical issues- listed building status, conservation areas, ancient monuments and archaelogoical implications.
- End users- if the building is for a specific user group we would look into relevant factors or legislation which may impact upon the proposals.
Development of concept designs-
- Free-hand sketch drawings to quickly develop general ideas and test their suitability
- Analysis of site constraints and factors relating to orientation
- Consider sustainability issues and opportunities for the use of green technology within the scheme design
Negotiations
Using this analysis we can deal with pre-planning negotiations with the local authorities, neighbours or any one else with an interest in the site.
Brief development
As a strategy developes through the initial investigations we can mould these into a clear brief to enable the next stage of the design process to begin.
